A Street Named in Honor of Astana Has Appeared in the Capital of Jordan
Bakhyt Sultanov has officially visited Amman as reported on the official website of the capital’s akimat.
The twin cities of Astana and Amman are strengthening economic and cultural cooperation: today one of the central streets of the capital of Jordan has been named after the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana.
The solemn opening ceremony was attended by the Akim of the capital of Kazakhstan Bakhyt Sultanov and the Mayor of the capital of Jordan, Amman, Yousef Al Shawarbeh.
The friendly relations between the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, and the King Abdullah II of Jordan are role models and serve the interests of our two countries, as Bakhyt Sultanov noted in his speech. He expressed gratitude for the attention to the activities of Kazakhstan’s leader: as it is known, one of the central streets of the capital of Jordan was named after the President of Kazakhstan in 2010.
“We are grateful to all the Ammanians for tribute to our Yelbasy. We have just visited Nursultan Nazarbayev Street with his Excellency Mr. Shawarbeh and got introduced to its development. And here we are opening the street named in honor of the capital of Kazakhstan. It is symbolic that this happens in the year of the 20th anniversary of young Astana. I am convinced that this will give a new impetus to the residents of our cities and countries for further rapprochement,” – B. Sultanov emphasized.
In his turn, the Mayor of Amman, Yousef Al Shawarbeh, also expressed confidence in continuing the fruitful cooperation of the capitals of the two countries.
“Our peoples are tied with exemplary friendly relations and, certainly, the political friendship between the leaders of our countries. Astana is the benchmark of the modern city and an example to follow. Therefore, it is an honor for us that Astana Street has been opened in the capital of Jordan, which will become the embodiment of our friendship and fruitful cooperation,” – Yousef Al Shawarbeh said.
The ceremony was held in the framework of the official visit of Astana Akim, Bakhyt Sultanov, to the capital of Jordan. During the meeting, Astana Akim and the Mayor of Amman have discussed the prospects for further cooperation between the two cities in various fields.
“Our visit to Amman is an excellent opportunity to further intensification of bilateral cooperation in the field of urban development. We know that there is a series of major reforms and projects being implemented in Amman in the field of transport, landscaping, construction and smart technologies, simplifying and automating administrative procedures and improving the business environment. Astana is also actively working in these areas. I am confident that we have something to share with each other within these issues. We are ready to share experiences and best practices,” – Sultanov emphasized.
He also reminded the Mayor of Amman that “Astana” International Financial Center has been operating in the capital of Kazakhstan since the beginning of the year, and invited Jordanian businessmen to take part in its activities.
The opening ceremony was accompanied by traditional folk dances and national motifs performed by Kazakhstani and Jordanian musicians.
It should be recalled that His Majesty the late King of Jordan Hussein bin Talal was commemorated in Astana in January 2012.
The agreement between the Akimat of Astana and the Municipal Authority of Amman on the establishment of twin city relations was signed on November 8, 2005.
