Qorqyt Traditional Music Band Will Close IV Concert Season with Its Qarakoz Concert
On May 18, Qorqyt Traditional Music Band of the State Academic Philharmonic Society of Nur-Sultan Akimat will close IV Concert Season with its Qarakoz Concert (Astana Concert Hall, 19.00). The art director and chief conductor of the team is the figure of culture, Sholpan Korganbek.
“Qarakoz” concert is dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the kobyz player, composer, honored figure of art of the Kazakh SSR, Zhappas Kalambayev. His talent flared with all its facets during the First Rally of the All-Kazakhstan Amateur Art Performances held in Almaty in 1934. And since then, Zappas Kalambayev started working as an accompanist of the alt-kobyz players band and a soloist of the Kazakh Orchestra of Folk Instruments supervised by Akhmet Zhubanov.
Zhappas Kalambayev worked on the improvement of kobyz and in its performance, kyuis of Ykylas Dukenov, Qurmangazy Sagirbayev, Tattimbet Qazangapov, Dauletkerei Shigayev, as well as songs of Birzhan Sal, Akhan Sere, Ukili Ibrai, Baluan Sholak, Yestai Berkimbayev and other musicians masterly sounded when kobyz playing.
“Qorqyt” Traditional Music Band has repeatedly become a laureate of international and national competitions. One of the important victories was being the laureate of “Shabyt” XX International Festival of Creative Youth. The individual style of the team is based on the enthusiasm and creative search for new expressive possibilities. Folk and folk-professional music is arranged by the director Sholpan Korganbek for the ensemble artists who play at many national instruments: kobyz, kyl-kobyz, narkobyz, dombyra, syrnai, myuyiz-syrnai, shankobyz, zhetygen, sherter, dauylpaez, saz syrnai and others.
The concert program features works by Zhappas Kalambayev (“The March”, “Sharken”), Ykylas Dukenov (“Zhez Kiik”), author’s compositions by Yedil Khussainov (“Babalar Sazy”), Sholpan Korganbek (“Amanat”) and others.
The concert is held within “Rukhani Zhangyru” with the aim of preserving, developing and promoting the historical and cultural heritage.
